Martial et Armand was a fashion house founded in Paris in 1896 and which closed around 1957.
History
[edit]The lingerie store Martial et Armand opened in 1896 on 13 rue de la Paix, Paris. Its first branded dresses were released in 1902. In 1906, the store moved to 10 place Vendôme and its products are started to be exported to the USA.
Martial and Armand launched their first perfumes, 'Une Rien' and 'Gardenia', in 1924.[1]
Pauline Trigère started her career working at th Martial et Armand shop.[2]
Some of Martial et Armand's work is part of the permanent collection of the Costume Institute of the Met[3] and of Paris' Palais Galliera.[4]
