Conor Hourihane (born 02 February 1991, Republic of Ireland) is an English professional footballer who plays as a Midfielder for Ipswich Town.

Career

Sunderland

Hourihane came up the ranks of Sunderland's academy system. In 2008 he signed a two year professional deal with the Black cats. But after one year of not being anywhere near the first team Hourihane decided to turn down a extension in 2010.[1]

Ipswich Town

Hourihane signed a one year deal with Ipswich Town in the summer of 2010 having left Sunderland. He never featured in Roy Keane's first team, just being on the subtitutes bench twice. He has still yet to feature in Paul Jewell's first team side.

International career

Hourihane played for the Under-19 national side. He made his debut on 31 March 2009.[2] Overall Hourihane played 13 games for the Under-19's getting 4 assists but no goals.[3] He then moved up to the Under 21s and made his debut on the 10 August 2010 where they thrashed Estonia 5-0, Hourihane coming on as a substitute to set up the fifth goal.[4] He featured again as a substitute on 3 September 2010 against Switzerland, where the Irish lost 1-0.[5] Hourihane's first start in under-21 football came on 7 Septmeber where again the Irish lost 1-0.[6]
