Jung Yoon-oh (Korean정윤오; born Jung Jae-hyun Korean정재현), better known by his stage name Jaehyun is a South Korean singer, dancer and songwriter. He is best known as a member of the South Korean boy group NCT and its sub-units, NCT U and NCT 127.[1]

Early Life

Yoon-oh was born Jung Jaehyun in Seoul, South Korea on 14th February, 1997. At the age of 5, he moved to Connecticut, USA where he stayed for nearly 4 years. At the age of 19, he graduated from School of Performing Arts Seoul in 2016.

Career

Pre-debut

In 2012, he was scouted by a SM representative outside his school, where he auditioned and became a SM trainee. In 2013, he was announced as a member of SM Rookies, a pre-debut training team. Along with several now-NCT members, he appeared on EXO 90:2014,a show where members of boy group EXO recreate music videos of prominent 90s K-pop idols. [2]

2016-present: Debut with NCT

In April 9, 2016, he debuted as a member of NCT and its first unit, NCT U (along with Ten, Taeyong, Doyoung and Mark) with the single, "The 7th Sense". On April 9, NCT U (along with Taeil and Doyoung) released the second single "Without You". On July 7 of the same year, he debuted as a member of the Seoul-based unit NCT 127, with the EP NCT #127, with the lead single "Fire Truck", which he helped in writing the lyrics. On March 8, 2017, he, along with member Johnny, were announced as DJs of the radio show NCT Night Night, which was scheduled to air on March 20. On March 14, 2018, NCT released its first full-length album NCT 2018 Empathy[3] with Jaehyun taking part in 3 out of 6 singles. On October 20, 2019, he was chosen as a MC for SBS program Inkigayo along with Monsta X's Minhyuk and April's Naeun. [4]
