Dipolog Cathedral (Cebuano: Katedral sa Dipolog, Filipino: Katedral ng Dipolog), canonically recognized as the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral Parish (Cebuano: Katedral sa Balaang Birhen sa Santo Rosario, Filipino: Parokyang Katedral ng Mahal na Birhen ng Kasanto-santuhang Rosaryo), is a Roman Catholic church located in Estaka, Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte. The cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dipolog. It is situated in the city of Dipolog, the capital city of the Philippine province of Zamboanga del Norte, some 715 kilometres (444 miles) south of Manila.

Altar Servers

They are a group of dedicated young individuals who assist the clergy during Mass and other religious functions. These servers, often 10-21 years old, serve at the altar and perform various tasks to ensure the smooth and reverent celebration of the Catholic liturgy.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Altar Servers of Our Lady of The Most Holy Rosary Cathedral perform a range of duties during liturgical celebrations. These duties may include, but are not limited to:

1. Carrying the Processional Cross and Candles: The servers carry the processional cross at the beginning mass or during special processions, and candles during the beginning of the mass, liturgy of the word, liturgy of the eucharist, and also special processions.

2. Assisting with Liturgical Items: They assist the priest in carrying the missal, chalice, and other liturgical items required for the celebration of the Holy Eucharistic Mass.

3. Thurifer and Boat Bearer: Some servers may be designated as thurifers and boat bearers, responsible for handling the incense boat and the thurible. The thurible is used during the beginning of the mass, liturgy of the word, liturgy of the eucharist, and special processions if needed

4. Assisting the Priest or Bishop: They stand near the priest or bishop during the Mass and assist as needed, such as holding the book during prayers and holding the crozier and miter.

5. Preparing the Altar: Before and after Mass, the servers help prepare and clean the altar, ensuring all necessary items are in place.

7. Assisting in Sacraments: During sacramental celebrations, such as Baptisms and Weddings, the servers may be involved in specific roles.
