Conrad Jon Godly
[edit]Conrad Jon Godly (born January 24, 1962 in Davos, in Davos Switzerland) is a Swiss artist. He lives and works in Chur and Japan. his preferred way of working is oil painting. In it he devotes himself primarily to the landscape, in particular the mountains of his Graubünden and the landscapes of his adopted home Japan. His works do not represent real landscapes, his painting is rather a search for the essence of the landscape and other subjects that concern him. He received international recognition primarily for his mountain paintings.

Conrad Jon Godly grew up in Davos. From 1982 to 1986 he enjoyed an apprenticeship at the Basel University of Art and Design, in the painting class of Franz Fedier. During a stay in the USA from 1986 to 1987, Godly first worked in the medium of photography. The artist then worked exclusively with photography. Godly realised an international career as a photographer for magazines and advertising. in 2004 he returned to his home in Graubünden mountains and returned to painting. For four years he painted only for himself, with landscapes and especially the high alpine mountains of Graubünden being his preferred subjects. From 2008 to 2009 he moved to a studio in Vienna. For the first time he showed works in 2008 in the annual exhibition of Bündner Kunstmuseum in Chur. Since then, Conrad Jon Godly has exhibited regularly in Zurich, London, the Engadine and Japan. He has been married to the Japanese artist Kazuyo Okushiba since 2014.
