Early Life and Acting Background[edit]

Jacques Adriaanse was born on January 17th, 1996 in a small town Potchefstroom, South Africa. He is one of two children of Jeanne (née Fleck), a teacher, real estate agent and community councillor of the Democratic Alliance, and Dr Erik Adriaanse (aka Frederik Gideon Adriaanse), an Agricultural Scientist and Researcher in the Field of Fertilisation. Jacques has one sister Dr Marguerite Kruger (née Adriaanse). Both his parents are from German and Dutch descent and are Afrikaans. His parents met in Potchefstroom while at a gospel music concert while his dad was working at the ARC/LNR (Agricultural Research Council) at the time.

Adriaanse's parents named him 'Jacques' as his grandfather on his father's side was Johannes Jacobus Adriaanse and on his mother's side John Christopher Fleck, they decided to keep both sides of the family satisfied "Jacques" was a good choice for a name. Growing up Jacques was left many a time with his grandmother Augusta Marguerite Fleck (née van Rooyen) when his parents went to work. It was on these visits that he started falling in love with music and the art of performing as a youngster. His grandmother, then a retired classical opera singer, gave singing lessons at home and she used to recall how Jacques would sit in on all her coaching sessions while she taught many of her students, Jacques would run around her house singing "Dis heerlike lente, die winter's verby..." when he was staying with her and this would warm her heart immensely. Furthermore, his mom was a teacher at 'Bailie Park Laerskool', a primary school in Potchefstroom and coached the choir and yearly recitals at the school, he was constantly surrounded by creative, musical and performing loving people. It is in this time that his love for performing started.
