1991 - The provincial Health Ministry's Emergency Ambulance Services installed lights containing tritium in Fort Albany, as well as in Kashechewan and Attawapiskat. In September 1994, following several exposures to radiation from the lights installed in Kashechewan, they were removed from all communities. The Atomic Energy Control Board admitted that nobody in the communities had been warned about the presence of radioactive material before the lights were installed, and claimed that nobody had been exposed to dangerous levels of radiation, and there was no cause for concern. http://www.nationnewsarchives.ca/article/nineteen-exposed-to-radiation-in-kashechewan-nuclear-agency-admits-it-was-negligent-2/

On June 28, 1994, Chief Edmund Metatawabin voted against MoCreebec Council's expulsion from the Mushkegowuk Council. http://www.nationnewsarchives.ca/article/mocreebec-expelled-from-mushkegowuk-council/
