James Mort Harding (born 1986) is a British Sound Engineer, Music Producer and Musician. In July 2009, he became Sound Engineer and Youth Worker of the Boatyard Music & Film Studio.

Harding was educated at Bassaleg High School in Newport, near Cardiff in Wales, followed by Coleg Gwent, Crosskeys where he studied A Levels in Electronics, Music Technology and Chemistry and AS Level Biology.

After finishing his A levels at Coleg Gwent, Crosskeys, he attended University of Glamorgan to study BSc (Hons) Music Technology. In 2007, he graduated with a upper class second degree and went on to attain a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education from University of Wales, Newport

The year following finishing his PGCE, he looked for work around the United Kingdom as a Music Technology Lecturer but unfortunately due to so many applicants was disappointed at every turn. He instead tried to set up a freelance music technology and education business called "Ebbw Media" to support schools and students in changes to music curriculum, as they evolved to include modern music and its production. During the early set up of this business he started working with and learning from Al Steele, from Shabbey Road Studios, Caerphilly. However, business plans changed when a job was offered to Harding at the Boatyard Music & Film Studio in Pembrokeshire, Wales

In July 2009, he took up the post as Music & Film Technician and Youth Worker at the Boatyard Studio. The Boatyard was funded by The National Lottery's Big Lottery Fund for three years for the Tanyard Youth Project Ltd for youth and community activities in the areas of Music and Film. It recieved £367,807 in grant money to buy the building, renovate and equipe the studio with the latest music technology equipment. The grant also went to fund Harding's post. Since opening in November 2009, the Boatyard has played a role in over 400 young peoples and 100 adults lives through music and film activites. It has to date produced 12 short films from various genres all of which are avaliable to watch on its website (listed below).

Harding continues to help find and develop talent from not only the local community of Pembrokeshire but also from across South Wales as he regularly visits friends and family in Newport.
