Ederyn Williams (born 1946)[month/date?] is a retired academic and commentator on technology transfer.[1][2] He is the son of the Welsh academic, novelist and television critic Raymond Williams,[add Ederyn Williams, son born 1946 to page to redirect back] and edited the second edition (1990) of his father's book 'Television: Technology and Cultural Form (first published 1974). [3][add citation] In 1976 he was a joint author of The Social Psychology of Telecommunications, a text of social presence theory.[need citation]

After seven years as a psychology Research Assistant at University College London, Cambridge University and Johns Hopkins University,[4] he joined British Telecom where he managed businesses in information technology,[4] and was briefly the head of the short-lived games company Telecomsoft in the early 1980s.[5]

From 1991 he was the Managing Director of the now-defunct Leeds Innovations Ltd.,[4] and in April 2000 he "jumped ship" [sounds bias and should be removed] and joined the University of Warwick where he founded an academic department technology transfer office which later became Warwick Ventures, a soi-disant technology commercialisation company. [add citation] He retired from Warwick Ventures in September 2011.[6] [not chronological: move this 2011 sentence before "however, since February 2018] Its activities were claimed by Williams to have been adversely affected by the Financial crisis of 2007–08.[7] However, since February 2018, Warwick Ventures has once again re-branded itself as an academic department within the University of Warwick [8] [not chronological: moved after sentence "its activities were claimed"]

Bibliography[edit]

Article Evaluation[edit]

The Ederyn Williams article is rated Stub-Class on the quality scale. Editing suggestions to bump the rating to Start are to add references and reasons why the article is important. After reading the article, I evaluated it against other articles that are in the GA "good" range. One feature that stood out was a box to the right side that highlights a photo, and key elements of a biography (name, born, occupation). The article falls in the realm of biographies of living persons (BLP). There are a few sentences that do not have citations. References to books are not cited. Would be helpful to add a bibliography to the article. Worldcat.org lists 16 works in 76 publications by Ederyn Williams http://worldcat.org/identities/lccn-nr92018107/ Information is not chronological and should be reordered. Verbiage in one sentence sounds opinionated and needs a few words removed to sound factual. The talk page has 2 comments. The first from April 2015, is titled Persistent tinkering. The authors is concerns that a person has been making changes over the past 4 years, yet has not explained why in the talk page. The concerned authors encourages the "tinkerer" to read the rules of Wikipedia. The second from September 2017, explains why an external link was added to the archive. The two comments are a good example of why the talk page is important to keep all editors informed.

Links: Highlight text and push this button to make it a link. The Visual Editor will automatically suggest related Wikipedia articles for that word or phrase. This is a great way to connect your article to more Wikipedia content. You only have to link important words once, usually during the first time they appear. If you want to link to pages outside of Wikipedia (for an “external links” section, for example) click on the “External link” tab.

Cite: The citation tool in the Visual Editor helps format your citations. You can simply paste a DOI or URL, and the Visual Editor will try to sort out all of the fields you need. Be sure to review it, however, and apply missing fields manually (if you know them). You can also add books, journals, news, and websites manually. That opens up a quick guide for inputting your citations. Once you've added a source, you can click the “re-use” tab to cite it again.
