Synopsis[edit]

Movie begins with two security guards and their dates at an abandon lake where the men work. After drinking beer for a while, one of the guards and his date decide to take a closer look at the water where they would subsequently both get eaten by the shark. In a classroom, Professor Reynolds is teaching her class about the megalodon which is a large shark. Later on, the 2nd security guard and his date go looking for the missing two and they also get eaten by the same shark. Fast-forwarding to when the next shift of security guards arrives at the lake, they realise the two security guards are missing. While looking for them they find a hand in the water and thinking it’s a person, tries to save it only to realise it’s a severed arm and gets eaten as well.

In a meeting between professor Reynolds and Janet the owner of the mysterious island where Reynolds’ sister died (which was showed in a previous flashback). Janet discloses that they were conducting drilling operations and discovered an ancient cave that had a prehistoric shark inside. Interested by their professor and the mystery behind the murphy’s island, May and the other students decide to charter a boat to go the island. When arriving at the dock, they meet captain Stuben and he tells them the truth behind why the island is forbidden. Yet, even after the scary story they still decide to charter the boat and proceed to the island. While on the boat, the shark attacks them with only May being able to swim to shore where she meets a scientist that tells her he’s the one that created the shark by experimenting on it.

When Janet and professor Reynolds arrive at the island, they find May and the Scientist. Janet forces Reynolds to kill the monster with a gun which she successfully does but not before the shark kills Janet and the scientist. The last shot is of May and professor Reynolds walking away from the camera.
