Caesar Frazier (born September 26, 1947, in Bronx, New York) [3] is an American musician, keyboardist and singer-songwriter. He began his professional career at age 15, playing organ in R & B bands. He is best known for recording Jazz/Funk albums.

Life and career[edit]

Frazier, having moved to Florida at a young age, first began playing piano at the age of 5 as a child prodigy. He was influenced by artists of various music genres, that include blues, rhythm & blues, pop, and jazz. His professional career started at age 15, playing organ with rhythm & blues bands. After being influenced by the Hammond organ sounds of Jimmy Smith, Jackie Davis, Jimmy McGriff and Jack McDuff, he focused his musical efforts on jazz organ. In 1972, he became a member of saxophonist Lou Donaldson's band, which led to solo album recordings and sideman recordings with numerous other recording artists.

He also was a keyboardist with Marvin Gaye beginning in 1974. Some musicians he recorded with over the years include guitarist Melvin Sparks, saxophonist Houston Person, drummer Idris Muhammad, trumpeter Jon Faddis, guitarist David Spinoza, trumpeter Gary Chandler, guitarist George Freeman and vibraphonist, Billy Wooten.

After several decades performing and recording, Frazier turned to broadcasting at KSBR in Mission Viejo, California and WlOQ, and WUCF in Orlando, Florida. Frazier is still performing and recording as a jazz organist.
