Biography

[edit]

Martial arts background

[edit]

Pack joined a karate school as a young adult, and began wrestling in high school. After graduation, he worked in many services trying his hand in auto mechanics and handyman work. When he was 17 he joined Grandmaster Clingan's Korean karate (formerly known as The All American Tang Soo Do Association).

In addition to Pack's workouts in Northern California, he also trained occasionally with "The California Kid" Urijah Faber and longtime Gladiator Challenge champion Dave Huckaba. Pack focuses on stand-up fighting, such as Boxing and Muay Thai.

Early Amateur career

[edit]

Pack was offered his first MMA fight from longtime family friend Mike Thornton. The fight was at a small show in Hoopa, Ca., for Brassnux Promotions (http://www.Brassnux.com). He weighed in at 325 lbs. for the fight. He went three rounds and won a very close decision. After that fight he compiled a five fight win streak including a amateur title shot.

Early professional career

[edit]

Pack made his professional MMA debut in 2009 fighting for the GC. He had his first fight against Brazilian Jiu-jitsu instructor David Hagon. Pack went on to win that fight in the Super Heavyweight division by TKO in just 32 seconds of the first round. His next fight was against former football player Eric Flood (http://www.sherdog.com/stats.htm). Ivan ended up breaking Flood's ankle with a leg kick. The fight was stopped when Flood could not answer the bell for the second round. Pack's next fight was against Angel DeAnda (5-1) MMA for the Gladiator Challenge (GC) Heavyweight Championship. He lost that fight by first round KO. He then returned to the Super Heavyweight division for a decision loss to Chris Bostick in August of 2010.
