The 1957 Litzsinger Murders (February 12, 1957 - November 17, 1957) are the most tragic premeditated murders in the history of Saint Louis, Missouri. On November 17, 1957, the State of Missouri convicted Bertha Gifford of Catawissa, Missouri, with the murder of 5 children. Her involvement in Satanic sect Order of the Nine Angels and her ephemeral stay within an abandoned house causes speculation whether the house is haunted or not. While there is no empirical evidence, the abandoned house--9904 Litzsinger Road--remains on of the most haunted houses in the United States.
