I was born in Maida Vale, in West London. It's an area that I wish I could afford to live in now. My grandfather, who had the wonderful first name of Angel, also lived in Maida Vale, in a large mansion flat. I remember one Guy Falkes night at Angel's flat when a loose spark set off all the fireworks in the box and caused complete and total panic among the grown ups. I, of course, found it thrilling, having no idea of the potential danger we could have been in. Fireworks were wizzing and banging everywhere, children were screaming, dogs were barking. A November 5th to remember.
