Henrietta by: Charlotte Lennox[edit]

Throughout this novel the three characters of my choosing are Henrietta, Lady Meadows, and Mrs.Wooby. All three of these characters are important to this story as well as main characters. Henrietta is the main character in the novel who is a young girl essentially an orphan who is taken under the care of her aunt. Her Aunt Lady meadows, who is a selfish woman takes her in not because of selflessness, but because of pride. Lady Meadows is a strong Roman Catholic who is obsessed with her friend who is a Chaplin Danvers. Due to jealousy of the relationship of Henrietta and Danvers, Lady Meadows decided to find her a suitor who was catholic, rich, and old, which gave chaplain Danvers all to lady meadows. Mrs. Woodby throughout the book a very dramatic. She also tends to not only over dramatize things but she also tends to romanticize things.

Throughout the whole novel the structure is broken down in a very unique way. Within the novel there are two volumes. Within each

Throughout the novel Henrietta as a reader you begin to see a more modern style of writing for this era. Before this book the wring was not as detailed nor were the description of the characters.

Throughout the novel one of the important themes in the book is the uprising of female free thinkers. You are able to see this through Henrietta’s wit as well as her rebellion.

Throughout this novel it is about a young orphan who get stuck in hard situations. Though these hard situations she shows her sense and wit while also giving a beautiful picture of life in the mid 18th century. She is a young female that gets paired with suitors that are not made for love, but for convenience.
