John Michael is an English name. It can be hyphenated as John-Michael, or be a result of the usage of both the first and middle names. According to data for US births, "John" was the 20th most common names for boys in 2008. Estimates believe that it is the 3rd most common name of males currently living in the US. According to the same data, "Michael" was the 2nd most common name in 2008, and is estimated to be the #1 most popular name of males currently in the US.
The name John Michael consists of two very common individual names, but the combination is quite different. It creates a sense of uniqueness that is not there when either of the names is used alone. In 2009, an article was written in the Canadian Globe and Mail about the kinship felt by people with the same name, and "John Michael" was listed as an example. Some people believe that those with the name "John Michael" even share similar characteristics, although there is no research to confirm this.
