[edit]We are survivors of the massacre led by the Marquis de Saint-Vidal in Saint-Pal-de-Mons in 1574. The Marquis de Saint-Vidal gave us prisoners to the King of France Henri III in exchange for our village's land; we were enslaved to the king and the clergy calling us like the people coming from Saint-Pal the Palous. HENRI III and the kings who followed kept us as a servant and especially for the wine. Until recently, one of my uncles was a servant of a cardinal when he retired in 2010; his son-in-law took over as the cardinal's secretary because he had no son of his own. Our last name is Palous; we are the people coming from Saint-Pal, the Palous. In 1618, Louis XIII honoured us with this magnificent coat of arms to recognise his trust in our loyal service to the court. [[
