Jonathan Lewis Slate, born on December 8, 1964 was a Web Designer and Search Engine Optimizer who lived in Winston, Georgia 30187.

Growing up in East Point and then spent his last years in Winston, Jon has loved music the way a quarterback loves football, a photographer loves "the shoot," and a scientist loves the unexplored. He grew up participating in the children's choirs at church. In fourth grade, Jon started playing the trombone. It was a "pea shooter" -- trombonist jargon for no triggers. His elementary band director, a horn player in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, realized Jon needed a trombone with a trigger for his short arms. Jon continued playing a "trigger" trombone through college, mainly learning and enjoying playing bass trombone (sometimes, with two triggers) in jazz bands. As the only (8th-12th grade) high school tuba player was about to be graduated at the end of the spring quarter, the director, in January, asked if anyone knew how to play tuba well enough for the graduation ceremony at the end of what was Jon's subfreshmen year. Having learned to play tuba, among other instruments, during his elementary school's summer band program, Jon started playing tuba and even played Malaguena at one of his high school's graduations. Jon started at Brevard College, transferred to UNC-Greensboro, and came back home to finish an eight-year musical journey by being graduated from Georgia State University in 1991 with a Bachelor's of Music degree.

He started designing websites professionally in November of 1994. When graphical Web browsers such as NCSA Mosaic and Netscape were popular (before Internet Explorer was released), he was learning how the Web worked, creating web pages, and gaining and spreading knowledge in the field of Web Design which has become one of his favorite passions, along with playing the tuba and "jazz" bass trombone. As the years pass and the popularity of the Internet grows, Jon stays up-to-date with many of the emerging technologies and progressive design aspects as they happen. The latest addition to his toolbox is Search Engine Optimization. SEO is the technique used to place a website (one page at a time) at the top of a Search Engine Results Page (SERP). The closer your page is to the #1 spot on the SERP, the more likely your page is to be visited.

Jon Slate passed away[1] on Saturday, March 19, 2011, and will be sorely missed.
