David "Jerome Lester Strum Bucket" Swift (April 30th 1972 – ) was the Men's Cross Country and Track and Field lead runner and captain at Marist College, and now coaches Men's and Women's Cross Country and Women's Track and Field at Spackenkill High School.
Early Life
[edit]Swift grew up with nine brothers and sisters who reportedly all were avid runners. He's quoted as saying that he earned his nickname, Jerome Lester Strum Bucket, because his older brother used to strum his earlobes like a guitar.
College career
[edit]Swift managed to break three school records during his time at Marist, in the Steeplechase, the indoor 2000 meter race, and the outdoor 5000 meter race. His 5000 meter is disputed though because it was run on an indoor track during the outdoor season and his time surpassed the current outdoor record, but not the indoor record, so it was never officially recorded as a record breaking race.
Coaching Career
[edit]Swift has coached the Spackenkill Spartans for X years, leading X runners to state championship meets.
