Health Asset Management, Inc. (HAMi) is a computer software company headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, USA that provides SaaS (Software as a Service) solution for contract, policy, document, asset management, corporate compliance and other business processes that is HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliant.
History
[edit]HAMi was established in October 1, 1997 and was founded by Michael D. Tarpley. The company was developed with specialization in the purchase and resale of medical equipment. The company provided services of an all-in-one solution for storage, disposal and resale of surplus medical equipment. Seeing the need to automate the management of equipment and products, a global web-based solution were developed with the capabilities to efficiently manage, move and market services. This propriety and copyrighted software was named Section-38.com (S-38). It was designed as an asset management tracking system using digital photography and searchable indexes.[1]
In early 2001, the software was requested to include management of legal contracts and were later named as PaperTracer Business Process Management Software. Completed in 2002, PaperTracer was delivered through cloud computing model. Having started as a contract and asset management software, the software has found its diverse use in the business applications of the health care and other industries.
HAMi has over 12 years of technical expertise and experience to meet the requirements of its clients’ business process needs. Meeting HIPAA compliance requirements, it is presently being used by over 40 hospitals and institutions in the USA and a very large institute’s health care centre in India. These numerous institutions use PaperTracer to manage thousands of contracts and business processes representing billions of dollars in value. The institutions provide services of healthcare, education, and research. According to Debbie Monserrat of Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, "With HAMi and PaperTracer, they adapted to the way we needed to do business. With a brief training session, HAMi showed me how to create departments and I designed the templates myself. Because the templates are dynamic, I can create a new database or alter an existing one in minutes. Instead of making us fit our square peg into their round hole, they allowed us to create a variety and many variations of square pegs which provide the flexibility we want." [2]
Partnership
[edit]HAMi has seen growth with clients both nationally and internationally in areas of health, education and research. It achieved Partner status with Microsoft for deploying use of PaperTracer on the new Windows Azure Platform.[3] The fast technological changes, more stringent legal requirements, increased confidentiality requirements, and growth in hospital mergers and acquisitions have created progression in the use of PaperTracer. In order to stay progressive, HAMi has maintained its attention on building and reinvesting its funds in development of the PaperTracer software product to meet the needs of users along with a focus on growing its client base.
