Haliciana Schola Cantorum (HSC) — Ukrainian-Swiss artistic association, whose aim is building cultural bridges between Western and Eastern Europe through manifold educational and performative art projects. The special emphasis of its activities is historically informed performance[1].

HSC was founded in 2015 in the city of Basel (Switzerland) as a non-profit organization following the example of European education and research institutions, in particular Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. From 2016, the association started its activity in Ukraine. The artistic director of HSC is Ivan Dukhnych.
Activities[edit]
Main directions of HSC's activities are:
- Researcn and promotion of historically informed performance among professional musicians and music students in Eastern Europe (with the emphasis on historical region of Halychyna/Galicia)
- Organization of scientific conferences, research actions, and projects regarding the preservation of cultural heritage
- Educational activities and promotion of culture of listening to classical music among the general public
- Manifold social and charitable projects, as well as events for children, where music has an educational function and facilitates cultural initiatives
One of the most ambitious HSC's projects was the international symposium "Ex umbra in solem" ("From shdow into light"), which took place on 3-5 November 2017 in Lviv[2][3]. This event aimed to bring together the musicologists from the East and the West and encourage the discussion of lost, rediscovered or re-evaluated music pieces. The main emphasis of the conference was the research in the field of discovering, reconstruction and storage of music manuscripts. Over 40 researchers from East and West (Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Austria, England, Italy, Australia, USA, and others) participated in the symposium. The honorable guest and keynote speaker was professor Christoph Wolff.
