Exodus Film Group is an independent production company based in Venice Beach , California. The company develops a wide range of projects for all media outlets in both live action and animation. Exodus has taken pioneering steps in the animation field by creating one of the first private equity animation film funds. Exodus' first feature, Igor, was released in North America on September, 2008 and stars Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, Jennifer Coolidge, John Cusack, Arsenio Hall, Sean Hayes, Eddie Izzard, Jay Leno, James Lipton, Molly Shannon, and Christian Slater.

The company currently has a number of animated projects in production, including Bunyan and Babe, starring the voice talents of John Goodman and Kelsey Grammar, which is a modern adaptation of the legend of Paul Bunyan. In addition The Hero of Color City, which stars Craig Ferguson, Arsenio Hall, and Rosie Perez, and Christina Ricci. Also in the works, is the yet-to-be titled Tyler Perry project based on his signature character, "Madea" who will appear in an animated world for her first time.

History[edit]

John Eraklis founded Exodus Film Group with Delbert Whetter in 2001, with the notion that Exodus would independently acquire, develop, and produce film properties.[1] The group then launched the Exodus Film Fund in 2004. In 2005, Exodus secured Jerome Williams as SVP of business development.[2] Bruce Auerbach joined the company as the head of the Consumer Products Division, a new facet of the company geared toward branding Exodus through merchandising and licensing partnerships. [3] Animation veteran Max Howard joined Exodus as President in 2007. Howard joined Exodus after a tenure as President of Warner Brothers Feature Animation and more than twelve years at Disney Feature Animation, where he served as Senior Vice President and shepherded such projects as The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.[4]

Distribution[edit]

Exodus Film Group partners with different distributors for each of their properties. Igor was released domestically on September 19th, 2008, through MGM. [5] The Weinstein Company secured the international rights to Igor while Momentum handled distribution in the UK.[6] Magnolia Pictures has secured the distribution rights to The Hero of Color City.[7]
