Lawrence Lessig has described Kevin's software as "elegant... allowing me to spend more time with my kids". Xeni Jardin (BoingBoing) liked his Crude Dick. Terry Heaton and Matt Haughey have quoted him about digital distribution and digital rights management.

Kevin has always been interested in computers. At 11, he won an Apple II in 1983 for this design he created with a Kola pad. He was lucky enough to learn about the WWW and HTML when they were still being promoted as a way to link citations in academic papers. He combined what he learned while earning his B.S. in Communications from Bradley University with the technical skills he picked up from RTFM and went to Quebecor in 1996 to develop an 'intranet'. Kevin considers iQ one of his most successful projects in large part because it's still running basically unchanged 10 years later.
