Usage

[edit]

The new Infobox Digital media template is very powerful and designed to meet all the needs of the existing Template:Infobox Broadcast, Template:Infobox TV channel, Template:Infobox Broadcasting network, and Template:Infobox Radio station. The tables below highlight the parameters and how they are used to both organize and display the data. They are broken down into the various sections the template provides.

Main Area
Parameter Contents

logo_2...3_file The image name for up to 2 alternate logos. does not require the "[[image:"
logo_2...3_alt The Alt/title for the alternate logos, a short description of the image
logo_2...3_size If the image will cause the infobox to stretch put 200px as this parameter

replaced_names The channel that this channel replaced. Optionally link to that channels article
replaced_by_names
sisters The name or names of sister station(s)/channel(s) (The title is normally Sister station(s) but is replaced by Sister channel(s) when type is channel)
Transmitters & Repeaters
The Transmitters and Repeaters parameters allow you to provide full information for up to 4 transmitters and 3 repeaters for any broadcast or network media entity. It is important to note that these sections can become quite large and if more than 4 transmitters and/or receivers exist for the entity, consider moving some into a table in the article.

tx_1_callsign is not required if only one transmitter is operated by the entity. This allows the tx_1_ parameters to be displayed in the main area automatically. The callsign (tx_2...4_callsign) is required for any tx_2...4_ data to display in the Transmitters section.

Repeaters will always be shown in their own section and require a callsign (rep_N_callsign) for any rep_N data to display.
Transmitters
Parameter Contents
tx_1...4_callsign The call letters of the transmitter, as assigned by the appropriate national broadcast authority.
Required for all transmitters if and only if more than one transmitter is being displayed.
tx_1...4_city The municipality designated by the station's license, where this differs from location.
tx_1...4_channel Indicate the channel number(s) of this analog transmitter, and whether it is in the VHF or UHF spectrum. Also indicated whether it is analog or digital. E.g. "8 (VHF - digital). Analog/digital notation only needed in areas where analog switchoff has not occurred yet - for U.S. stations, all analog transmitter data should be removed shortly after February 17, 2009
tx_1...4_airdate The date on which regular broadcasts began.
tx_1...4_callsign_meaning The meaning behind the callsign letters, if available.
tx_1...4_former_callsigns List any previous callsigns the station had during its history.
tx_1...4_erp The current effective radiated power of the station's primary transmitter in kilowatts, or watts if below 1 kW.
tx_1...4_haat Indicate the height above average terrain (HAAT) in metres first, followed by a conversion to feet. For example: {{convert|210|m|ft|0|abbr=on}} → 210 m (689 ft) - see {{convert}}
tx_1...4_class Indicate the class of the primary broadcast transmitter, as applicable to the broadcast standards of the station's country.
tx_1...4_facility_id The facility ID which a national regulatory identifies the broadcast station (generally used by FCC in the United States).
tx_1...4_coordinates' Indicate the geographic coordinates of the station's primary transmitter. See the documentation of {{coor dm}} or {{coor dms}} templates.
Repeaters
Parameter Contents
rep_1...3_callsign The call letters of the repeater, as assigned by the appropriate national broadcast authority.
Required for all repeaters.
rep_1...3_X The rest of the repeater parameters are the same as the transmitter parameters above. Simply replace tx with rep.

Services
Services are a group of 5 data fields that be defined for any purpose to cover information that may not be specified by a built-in parameter to this template. They are unique because they can collectively be placed in the main content are or in their own area with a definable heading.
Parameter Contents
force_services Leave this blank to have the service displayed in the main area. Set value to true to place services in their own group.
services_title If force_services is used, this will be the title of the services group. Services is the default if this is left blank
services_note Appears along-side the services_title
servicename1...5 The left column text for the services: e.g. servicename1, servicename2. Text is already styled bold.
service1...5 The right column text for the services: e.g. service1, service2.
