The Young Professionals (also known as TYP), are an Israeli "alternative pop" band consisting of the composers, Ivri Lider and Yonathan Goldshtein. The band released its debut album, 9:00 to 17:00, 17:00 to Whenever, in 2011. [1]

History[edit]

The group consists of two music composers: Ivri Lider and Yonathan Goldshtein who met in a recording studio in 2010, began writing songs together and later formed The Young Professionals band. [2] The duo modeled their band name after the first song they wrote together.[3]

Lider, who hails from Tel Aviv is an established "Israeli pop star" [4] and one of its "most successful recording artists". [2] He has won the 2005 Israel Artist of the Year award, been nominated for Best European Act at MTV's 2011 European Music Awards and released six platinum and gold albums. [1][5][6] Lidri also composed music for the films: Yossi and Jager, Walk on Water and The Bubble. [3]

The other member of the band, Goldshtein, is a music producer who has worked with Hadag Nahash, Avishay Cohen and Dana Adini.[1] [3][7]

The duo released their 14 track debut album 9:00 to 17:00, 17:00 to Whenever in 2011[4] which a reviewer for Tablet Magazine described as a mix of "often-raunchy lyrics with a melancholy take on intimacy" and referred to the song "Blood Makes Noise", as "one of the best pop songs ever [written] about AIDS". [4]

The Young Professionals released their "hit" song "D.I.S.C.O" in July 2011 (a "techno-pop remake" of the 1979 song by the French duo Ottawan) which received airplay on MTV. [8] [9][10]

Their follow up single was called, "20 Seconds" and was described as a "hypnotizing mashup of cool western electro and middle eastern heat".[10] [11]

The band mixes electronic sounds, guitars and acoustic percussion to create a musical sound which has been described as "alternative" or "smart dance" pop.[8][1]
