Thomas Anton Solar is an American diarist, musician, and humorist. Anton has changed the lives of hundreds by personal example and touched upon the lives of thousands through his teaching, writing, and world travels. A victim of a horribly disfiguring childhood accident and a neglectful upbringing, he has survived a harsh environment and remains a champion of personal property, privacy, and the rights of children.

Thomas Anton Solar (born 1954) is a retired satellite technician from Telus Corporation.[1]

A firm believer in lifelong education, Anton has earned degrees in Education, Accounting, Computer Systems, and Military History. He has chosen to withhold the details of these credentials, explaining that these interests were not career-motivated and were achieved later in life.

By age of 13, Anton organized a four piece musical group. Without any formal training, support, or example, music became a life-long hobby. As musicians were not available, it was necessary to learn each instrument to teach local friends to play, resulting in Anton's preference for small live performances and shunning the recording industry. Anton quotes his mentor as Gordie Walker, of San Francisco and later of North Vancouver, British Columbia. His instrument of choice remains the electric bass after 43 years as a fan of Carol Kaye.

Anton is the author of many articles dealing with social injustice, institutional invasion of privacy, and is a strong opponent of anonymous access to public records. He voiced early warnings about Internet identity theft, abuse of credit information, and the erosion of personal privacy that have become common a decade later. His writings encompass many academic areas, including geology, physics, astronomy, electronics, and history. He also follows the social dynamics of American real estate, retirement planning, and the realities of continuing bachelorhood with a sense of humor and irony.

Retiring from telecommunications at the age of 41, Anton has pursued a variety of business ventures on a hobby-interest basis. These include a taxi company in Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela, and a successful Internet access location in Hollywood, Florida. Both were closed following health issues between 2003 and 2009. He has traveled throughout Thailand, India, southern Philippines, Mexico, and far eastern Venezuela. Former residences include Palo Alto, California, Inuvik, Canadian Northwest Territories, Everett, Washington, and Burnaby, British Columbia.

Anton's hand-written memoirs of these travels are currently being digitalized and include in-depth walking tours of Merida (Mexico), Borocay Island (Philippines), Phuket Island (Thailand) and the area surrounding Canaima and Angel Falls (Venezuela). These extensive writings detail a "last-chancers hope to see exotic places before the Internet made the world flat again".

Other Detailed Information[edit]

Anton was married on August 21, 1989. He is currently separated due to "irreconcilable similarities" and has an adult son, Sean Christopher Brooks, born April 7, 1985, and a Godson in Venezuela, Nestor Daniel Gutierrez, born circa 1994. The basis or nature of any continuing relationships between Anton and friends and associates are not mentioned significantly in any of his publications. His former business partner, R. Choukalos, a lawyer, worked in Saudi Arabia and Central America (TERMOELECTRICA DE MEXICALI).

On December 24, 2003, Anton suffered a severe heart attack and survived due to specialized medical attention after transportation to Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Miami, Florida. (There were no previous symptoms, contributing factors, or family history.) A second attack of February, 2005 resulted partial paralysis and permanent disability. He was also treated in February, 2010 for complications. Anton was an administrative payroll accountant for IES Corporation of Houston, Texas (in Doral, Florida) during much this period.

Anton was compelled by a severely dysfunctional family to leave home at the age of 17 without any form of support. Anton began using his middle name in November 1979, following indiscretions from family members misappropriating his given name. These included, but are not limited to, auto theft, impersonation, credit fraud, harassment, threats, false police reports, malicious gossip, and complaints from business owners. Anton has never believed in consumer credit, and has never used or possessed credit cards. There is no factual information concerning his credit-worthiness on any database in existence.

As of writing, Anton is undergoing recuperative therapy and settling his affairs. He does not drive motor cars by choice and is an avid bicyclist as part of his recovery. Anton is active in music and computers, and is a locally famous club entertainer, personality, and computer teacher. His students and associates include Howard A. Ozmon, M.B. Crane, and Ruth Regina.

In 2002, Anton and Frank Bytheway, a co-worker, decided they wished to see a million items. After reviewing many fake claims, Anton devised a method to "count to one hundred ten thousand times", and the partners set about counting one million toothpicks in eight months. The resulting display was featured at the San Diego Fair during 2003 as guests of the Jeff & Jerry Show. Anton was acclaimed a sought-after radio guest personality after single-handedly defending his claim of exactly one million during a series of telephone interviews which included professional cross-examiners.       Anton presently lives in Hallandale Beach, Florida, while maintaining strong contacts with Bellingham, WA and Aurora, CO.
