April 2024

[edit]
  1. University of Information Science and Technology "St. Paul The Apostle": nominated at AfD; notified Patkica (talk · contribs) 00:12, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: The article states they have 375 students, which is not a university. Many of the claims look too much, and none are verified. From their own web page the number of faculty is very small. Making a Beowulf cluster is not notable. More significant coverage is needed, this fails almost everything.
  2. Spice rack: nominated at AfD; notified Pek (talk · contribs) 05:38, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: A case of WP:NOTEVERYTHING. Spice ranks are useful, in fact we have one. However, that does not make them something which is notable enough to have a page. The first two sources are definition, the third (of three) is a blog that (rightly) suggests that they help to organize a kitchen. I agree, but no need for a page on that here IMHO.
  3. Ejikeme Patrick Nwosu: nominated at AfD; notified Royalrumblebee (talk · contribs) 12:30, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Page is advertising. It was deleted before in 2017, and does not seem to have been improved. Just getting a patent is not notable, it has to become a real product/method heavily used.
  4. Paulin Basinga publications: nominated at AfD; notified 6eeWikiUser (talk · contribs) 12:36, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: There is no reason to have a list of someone's publications on Wikipedia, this is what Google Scholar and Research Gate etc are for. Since a PROD was contested, it has to go to AfD (perhaps speedy delete). This page should not be merged to Pauline Basinga as a long list is not useful in a BLP.

May 2024

[edit]
  1. Cogfog: nominated at AfD; notified Mikeb716 (talk · contribs) 23:22, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason': This article is about the weekly research group meetings of two faculty and their students/Postdocs etc. As such this is definitely not appropriate content for Wikipedia, WP!. If we were to start to include topics like this then we would have to add the (more notable) faculty meetings and weekly seminars in academic departments around the world. We should not do this, Speedly delete
  2. Data-driven astronomy: nominated at AfD; notified Msouryadeepta (talk · contribs) 08:56, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: This appears to be either or both a PhD project proposal (or a MA or Part II). It describes what will be done as part of an apparently funded proposal. Since there already is a more general page on the wider topic at Astroinformatics, I see no rationale for this page.

June 2024

[edit]
  1. Chinedu Ekuma: nominated at AfD; notified Gmp007 (talk · contribs) 07:48, 7 June 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Assistant professor with an h-factor of 22 and no notable awards and no notable mentions. Novice editor (his first article) ignored AfC declination and moved to main space, twice deleting COI tags. On new page patrol both notability and COI were tagged and draftified; novice editor removed tags and a moved back to main space. Hence AfD.
  2. Typical medium dynamical cluster approximation: nominated at AfD; notified Gmp007 (talk · contribs) 08:03, 7 June 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Page probably created by students in the group of the originator of the algorithm. All relevant refs to the method are from one group, there are no secondary sources. It should be trimmed down to a paragraph or two and merged into Dynamical mean-field theory since it is a variant of that very well established and used approach. We should not have separate articles on every minor DFT variant IMO.
  3. Tardza Project: nominated at AfD; notified AngelOfDestiny (talk · contribs) 08:29, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: The three pages Tardza Project, Criollo_Project and Carbone (company) are not written appropriately for Wikipedia, and have very marginal notification. I tagged them on NPP, but the editors have made no attempt to improve them. I am therefore doing a AfD, this one is the worst so I see no reason it can meet WP:N

July 2024

[edit]
  1. ELKO theory: nominated at AfD; notified 67.198.37.16 (talk · contribs) 15:49, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Article based upon one source which has been cited 4 times, plus a second more cited source that has nothing to do with thr topic. The page was previously deleted, and as part of NPR I tagged a newly created version for questionable notability, no significant scientific coverage and in need of better sourcing to avoid a future AfD. Editor User:TakuyaMurata immediately removed the maintenance tag of notability claiming that a Google search indicates that it is; I find no evidence that it is. Hence time for an AfD as not notable for a more complete discussion.
  2. Thomas A. Moore: nominated at AfD; notified Sdkb (talk · contribs) 07:29, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Academic without a significant publication record or major awards. While he has written two textbooks, notability of them is unclear with only one review. In any case, even if the book is notable the author does not have to be. Page was moved to draft following NPR; editor rejected draftification and moved back to main without attempting to prove notability. Hence time for AfD.
  3. Yossi Elran: nominated at AfD; notified קוונטום דוץ (talk · contribs) 06:48, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: One of a number of BLP recently created directly to main space by קוונטום דוץ. Multiple editors have pointed out issues with these such as notability, sourcing, refbombing. This is perhaps the weakest. Lecturer with an h-factors of 8, no major awards, no major mentions, weak independent sourcing and many unsourced paragraphs.
  4. Classic World Racing: nominated at AfD; notified Mustang208 (talk · contribs) 13:57, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
  5. Juan Carlos Cusi Martinez: nominated at AfD; notified Nibia Becerra Santillan (talk · contribs) 19:41, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Academic who appears to be a research scientist, with not many publications, no wider coverage and no major awards. Notability was tagged by a different editor in May, nothing has been done. Hence time for an AfD as he seems to be far short of WP:NACAD
  6. Strengths test: nominated at AfD; notified ScirIvan (talk · contribs) 19:51, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: This reads as an advert hiding as an article. It is only about one product, and I do not see this as a neutral article that should be in Wikipedia.
  7. Pavlos Savvidis: nominated at AfD; notified TantLem (talk · contribs) 17:01, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Academic with a decent publication record (h-factors 43) but no significant awards to verify peer recognition, and no significant coverage beyond a mention back in 2008. Tagged for notability in NPP; no action taken beyond an unexplained and unwarranted removal or notability tag.

August 2024

[edit]
  1. LineLab: nominated at AfD; notified NerdNaut (talk · contribs) 21:39, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Relatively new product where the only sources about its uses are by the original creators; some third party sources are not relevant as they do not discuss the software. Page was previously tagged by @Chaotic Enby and Jlwoodwa: for promotional tone and other issues. Tags were removed without a significant change in tone, and without adding sources to demonstrate notability. I find nothing in Google search except the company itself, so it is time for an AfD.
  2. Ecoism: nominated at AfD; notified ImMurdoch (talk · contribs) 18:44, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Page on a philosophy with only primary sources, and no evidence of any secondary or other coverage. Original editor reacted to notability tags by removing references to Hares Youssef, but not in fact improving notability. It appears to be mainly promo of WP:OR, quite probably with COI as the only other edits by the original author were for Hares Youssef. I see no notability proof, so nominating for deletion.
  3. Hares Youssef: nominated at AfD; notified Bouvardiataxonomy14 (talk · contribs) 22:32, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
  4. William Wyckoff: nominated at AfD; notified Thriley (talk · contribs) 12:40, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Short BLP created by an experienced editor. Tagged for notability as part of a NPP in JULY 2024, no improvements made. Nothing in the page or that I can find which proves notability. Certainly not WP:NPROF, reviews of books are in science journals so do not support WP:AUTHOR. Delete unless someone can edit to demonstrate notability.
  5. Yehuda Tagar: nominated at AfD; notified VerDalia (talk · contribs) 10:05, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: BLP without any demonstration of notability. It was tagged by Klbrain with a PROD in April 2024; the PROD was objected to with some discussion of improving it. Fast forward to August 2024 and nothing has changed. No proof of notability so nominated for deletion.
  6. Bibliography of Gilbert Hegemier: nominated at AfD; notified Particleshow22 (talk · contribs) 07:13, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: As the title says, this is a list of an academics articles. If he was a nobel laureate then perhaps one is appropriate. He is not, just a routine academic who may not pass WP:NPROF. This is not what Wikipedia is for.
  7. Crendon Replicas: nominated at AfD; notified Mustang208 (talk · contribs) 07:24, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: One of too many articles created by the same editor. I cannot see a company that has produced about 100 car kits as notable. No significant sources provided, I do not consider trade lists as proving notability.
  8. Adam's Buggies: nominated at AfD; notified Mustang208 (talk · contribs) 07:32, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Unnotable company that has only created 15 kits. No significant coverage to demonstrate notability.
  9. Blitzworld Buggies: nominated at AfD; notified Mustang208 (talk · contribs) 07:37, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Very small car kits company which has only produced ~250. No independent indication of notability.
  10. HN R200: nominated at AfD; notified Mustang208 (talk · contribs) 07:44, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Very small company that only produced three examples of a car. No evidence of significant notability, not everything belongs on Wikipedia.

September 2024

[edit]
  1. Miranda (engine): nominated at AfD; notified Apogee7 (talk · contribs) 01:51, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Article on a rocket engine under development which has no proven notability as it does not yet exist. Clear case of WP:TOOSOON. As part of WP:NPP it was draftified for improvement, for instance waiting until it has proven to be visble. Novice editor removed tags, moved back to main and made comments that violate politeness code. This article and approach is inappropriate for Wikipedia. Since the editor has rejected draftification, deletion now is the approach. If the motor ever works and becomes useful, then and only then would it be appropriate for Wikipedia.
  2. Hiller Air Tug: nominated at AfD; notified JPelham (talk · contribs) 13:19, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Article with highly promo style about a proposed helicopter (1965) that was never funded. I don't see anything to merge into the existing page on Hiller Aircraft, so it should be a standard delete for WP:What Wikipedia is not.
  3. Mohammed Tharwat Hassan: nominated at AfD; notified أسامة (talk · contribs) 12:15, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Associate Professor with an h-factor of 12 and no major awards. No evidence that he comes close to satisfying any of the WP:NPROF criteria. While notability was challenged in a tag by Kj cheetham in Fen 2022, it appears it was not followed up on. He has somehow slipped through the normal review process that would avoid non-notable academics.
  4. Gordon Edwards (scientist): nominated at AfD; notified Johnfos (talk · contribs) 19:28, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Not notable academic whose credentials do not verify, and for whom most of the claims in the text are uncited. Even if there were sources he would not pass notability. Somehow the original nomination has got mangled so I am doing a second nomination.
  5. Andy Pavlo: nominated at AfD; notified PetraMagna (talk · contribs) 22:35, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Associate professor who has made a good start, but with an h-factor of 40 in a high-citation field and no major awards is not yet notable. A claim of notability was made on the basis that he received a Sloan, but that is not of sufficient status, neither is a career grant.
  6. Whitworth's three plates method: nominated at AfD; notified Amomchilov (talk · contribs) 19:56, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: The topic is already in the page Flatness (manufacturing); I propose merging the content into that page and turning this into a redirect. I don't see a rationale for having it isolated.
  7. Rayleigh (unit): nominated at AfD; notified Urhixidur (talk · contribs) 13:23, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Doing a Google search I cannot find more than a couple of papers where this unit is mentioned, and it is not part of any of the unit standards I can find. Rather than a PROD I am doing an AfD just in case it is used somewhere. If it is, then please add sources and descriotion to that context to demonstrate why it should be retained.
  8. Ahmed Almheiri: nominated at AfD; notified 5.195.74.112 (talk · contribs) 13:44, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Assistant professor who does not come close to meeting WP:NPROF, one of two created recently directly to main space by an editor only a with few edits. Not enough publications, no major awards. Article was draftified on WP:NPP, but was immediately moved back to main space with the claim "meets Wikipedia standards". I think an easy case of Delete.
  9. Nima Lashkari: nominated at AfD; notified Shoy.ouseph (talk · contribs) 13:46, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Assistant professor who does not come close to meeting WP:NPROF, one of two created recently directly to main space by an editor only a with few edits. Not enough publications, no major awards. Article was draftified on WP:NPP with notability tags, but tag was removed and it was immediately moved back to main space with the claim "meets Wikipedia standards". I think an easy case of Delete.
  10. Thomas Faulkner (physicist): nominated at AfD; notified Theorist1729 (talk · contribs) 14:38, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Associate professor with an h-factor of 33 and no major awards. Page was created in 2014 when he was an assistant professor -- in 2024 that would (should) not be done of course. The page was tagged for academic notability in 2020, and no improvements have been made and he seems to have slipped through the cracks.

October 2024

[edit]
  1. Khalifah Al-Yaqout: nominated at AfD; notified Abacuvmaca (talk · contribs) 21:27, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Page which was previously PROD'd by Ravenswing which was removed by an IP user without any attempt to justify. He does not appear to be notable, and a quick spot check indicates that both many of the sources are direct primary, and also that they do not validate claims. Highly promo, I don't see notability.
  2. Kenneth Mims: nominated at AfD; notified Yuxavaxa (talk · contribs) 20:10, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: High school teacher who founded an interesting academy in Phoenix. While the academy might be notable, he does not inherit the notability. Much of the article is about the academy, not him. I see nothing substantive enough on him. Notability was questioned in August; I see no change and no notability.
  3. Mary Ann Raghanti: nominated at AfD; notified Facockta (talk · contribs) 02:23, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Biological anthropologist with an h-factor of 34 and no major awards, created on Oct 2 by a user with (currently) 30 edits. Page is a badly written stub without much information. She has a good career, but I am not convinced she is notable as yet. Page was tagged for notability by Ipigott on Oct 3 and I draftified it on Oct 4. Tags removed and page moved to mainspace on Oct 7; claim by original author that she is notable, with no further explanation, attempt to meet any of WP:NPROF or reach concensus. Only possible notability claim is as a co-author of an Ig-nobel prize paper. I am not sure if we consider that enough.
