nitenite cityhotels nitenite cityhotels [1] are UK based hotel chain. It was the first ever pod concept hotel in the UK and won many awards for its innovative room design[2] and build concept. Each individual hotel pod is created offsite in a controlled environment to allow precision and accuracy of the highest standard before being installed at the hotel site. The concept was created in 2005 when the designer and architects studied a Japanese concept of pod capsules before adapting it for the UK market.

The chain currently operates 2 sites in Birmingham, UK. There are plans in place for a number of other hotels to open in the UK over the next couple of years

Concept

[edit]

nitenite cityhotels was inspired by the 1970's design of a capsule hotel found in Japan[3], a design originally created by japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa. in 1970 the design was to adapt shipping containers for space saving rooms for single occupancy with all the necessities like a TV, radio and alarm clock. These pods were created to provide economical housing for businessmen working in the heart of Tokyo during the week before returning home to their homes and wives in the countryside at the weekend. The designers of nitenite knew the concept would need adapting slightly to work in the UK and also to meet the requirements of the modern day business man. Tibbets Able the original architects of nitenite worked tirelessly to create the perfect room and cost effective construction techniques to make nitenite the UK's first POD hotel. Each one of the hotel pod's were created offsite in a controlled environment that allows for accurate and precise design and build before being delivered to site and installed before constructing the shell of the building around them. To ensure the hotel could be installed in areas where space was a premium, each room was designed without a window, thus making the hotel brand not only the first pod hotel but the first windowless hotel too. The focus for nitenite isn't all about the size of the room, but focusing on the quality of Sleep, the experience of the shower, the standards of service and the cleanliness of there hotels.
