Gathering in the Gap Music Festvial is an roots music festival put on by the Friends of the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park. The event takes place each year on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend on the grounds of the Southwest Virginia Museum in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. The festival celebrates the rich tradition of old-time, bluegrass, blues, and Americana music found in Southwest Virginia. Festival activities include music competitions, workshops, jams, and main-stage performances by regionally- and nationally-known musicians. Additional features of the festival include food, craft, and antique vendors, a children's area, and the Southwest Virginia Museum's annual Quilt Show.
