From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello, my name is Isadora Lima. I am fluent in English and my mother tongue is Portuguese (from Brazil). I acquired my fluency in English by living (studying and working) in Canada for one year and in Ireland for over five years. I currently work as a professional freelance translator (EN > PT-BR), but have also started to contribute as a volunteer translator for Wikipedia articles. Sometimes the many layers of information about editing can sound a bit technical, which makes me struggle a little and get slightly lost in the extensive support documentation. However, I always find a way to start a discussion and ask for help from the more experienced members of the Wikipedia family. Despite everything, I really enjoy this experience because I am passionate about words, text, languages and knowledge. I just love translating and writing!

Most articles on Wikipedia are originally written in English, with the potential to be translated to other idioms. Therefore, voluntary translation allows Wikipedia content to be accessible to speakers of many other languages around the world. This is where the collective effort of Wikipedia's community of volunteer translators comes in, and within this framework, the purpose of my contribution is to facilitate access to knowledge and information for those who can only read in Portuguese, by providing translations whenever possible.

I know that my contribution is only a grain of sand against the ocean, but grain by grain we can build a mountain!
