Article evaluation[edit]

This is a smaller Wikipedia page based on a British magazine called Stranger (magazine). The article talks about the origins of the magazine, their community outreach and the various awards the magazine has won. The community outreach section was a bit unnecessary to have as a stand alone paragraph, I would have put it in the section for the history of the magazine. The article is completely neutral, only referencing the history of the magazine and what it did. There is no advocating for or against the publication. There are no viewpoints in this article as it is just information on what the article has done. Some of the citations had no links because they were books but the authors and the websites cited were reliable. The one source that could be questioned was the first cited source which was to a newspaper article, though it was only to reference who started the magazine. The article has not been updated in a year and it is possible there has been some new information as far as awards or community outreach that could be put in the article. The only conversation on the talk page is a plead for the page not to be deleted. This article is rated start class-low importance. Wikipedia doesn't talk about the impact of magazines and media alike whereas in class we put more of an emphasis on that. How could this page be better organized and is it necessary for the community outreach to have its own tab? --00:32, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

Article Selection[edit]

For my first article I chose Steve Amerson and fix the citations needed and add to his personal life section. As of right now it just says his home. I would add information about his family, spouse, and personal facts. I would also want to suggest a change to the formatting of the page. It is rated start-class.

For my second article I chose Hay Standard, an article about a South Wales newspaper because it is rated start-class by wikiproject media. I would edit the Digitisation section because as of right now, the section is hard to understand and is only one sentence long. I would reword the section and some further explanation of it's significance and the impact it had on this newspaper.

For my third article, I chose A.M.A.N. (TV series), a Greek parody show. This article only contains one paragraph, does not mention who produced this show and does not link the hosts' Wikipedia links to their names. I would like to fix all of these issues and add information on the shows producers and it's cultural influence.

Article Suggestion[edit]

I've decided to work on the Steve Amerson article. I plan to add information about his personal life Such as where he grew up and went to school. I found an online biography and another biography. With these sources I will be able to fill in more about his personal life. I also want to add a section on his nonprofit called Amerson Music Ministries.

Personal life(edited)[edit]

Steve Amerson lives in Granada Hills, California.[1] Amerson is married to Kristine Amerson and has fathered two children: Mathew Amerson and Katharine Amerson. [1]Amerson started nonprofit Amerson Music Ministries[2] to use music to spread his ministry. Amerson makes his living through preforming at shows, recording music for commercials and motion pictures[3]. Amerson has contributed to the soundtracks of more than 50 films and comercials[4]. His vocals can be found on feature films like Beauty and the Beast (1991 film), Men in Black (1997 film), and The Hunt for Red October (film)[4]. Amerson has worked with Honda, Toyota, Coke, and Microsoft on commercials [ IMBD PAGE}

Amerson Music Ministries[edit]

Amerson Music Ministries (AMM) is a small 501(c)(3) non-profit organization[5] started by Amerson in 1992 based in Los Angeles, CA[6]. Amerson continues to own it to this day, using this nonprofit to produce music and host events such as the Amerson Music Ministries (AMM) and Capitol Worship[7]. Amerson has toured across the United States and through Europe, preforming solo shows at concerts and religious conventions.[8] In addition to preforming, Amerson has continued his work as a preacher throughout his musical career, often integrating music into his sermons [needs citation]. Amerson works in the church and uses those connections to spread his musical ministry.[8]

Featured Film Contributions[edit]

(add under discography, make separate section for his albums)

Additional Adjustments[edit]

You could research what films, TV shows, commercials, and other works of media his music or company have been featured on to give evidence behind the claim made in the first paragraph. Right now it only talks about the songs he has made towards the bottom, but adding this other element of media will give the article more information as well as giving the article more necessary bulk. I would also look into if he is still preaching, and where he is still preaching. Maybe even seeing how much streaming his music gets on listening platforms. Also, what is he doing currently? Does he have any new music, is his company still under his ownership, and has there been any advancements in what he has been doing like new albums or sponsorships? Could you see how much his company is worth, and if the company has ownership over any other companies? Maybe even see if his company has its own wikipedia page, and if not, you could create the basis for that page. Km4038b (talk) 20:03, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Response to feedback[edit]

I think it would be a good idea to really expand on Amerson Music Industries. I'll look into the organization's stats as well as their involvement in music and ministries fields. I would also like to include a list of all the popular public figures they've worked with and how the nonprofit has grown since its beginning. I'm considering sending an email to steve himself asking for more information, though I am not sure if that is considered an adequate source and will have to look into it. As for the personal information on steve, I think there is merit in further exploring his media involvement and appearances. I like the idea of creating a basis for a page on his non profit and will likely explore more of that topic.
