Stuart's Ride Around McClellan took place between 12 and 15 June 1862 during the Peninsula Campaign of the American Civil War when a Confederate cavalry force led by J. E. B. Stuart rode around the Union Army of the Potomac under the command of George B. McClellan. Although considered military insignificant, Stuart's raid provided an important morale boost to the Confederate cause. Shortly afterwards, the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia under Robert E. Lee took the offensive during the Seven Days Battles.
