Kim Ables

About the person Kim ables is a unique woman, her artwork focuses on the world and its current environment. She was born in Missouri on August 28, 1952 and currently bases her life around the city of Los Angeles. She has made a huge impact in the city, from bringing awareness with her art projects to getting people to wake up. Having her artwork specialize in a diverse field attracts people with different interests from all around the world.

Accomplishments

-She has work connection with the California Science Center air pollution control agencies

-Health clinics and mental health departments

-Natural history museums in California, Colorado and Florida.

Education Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting

Ohio University, 1974. Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art, University California, Irvine, 1980.

Kim Abeles, notorious for her smog check art.

Her work Her ideas are based off of things that happened around her time, for instance one of her famous art would be the "smog collection". While somewhere near Los Angeles, she places stencilled images on transparent plates and they are able to collect smog over time which creates an image. It tells us how polluted our air is, bringing awareness to the topic. Another one of her famous Art would be the "walk a mile in my shoes", It is a public artwork that has history. It has a correlation with a native American tribe. Making us see how everyones point of view is different, getting us more woke. (She currently has an upcoming talk at the University library of Sacramento state as of May 11th 2023)
