Biographical Data[edit]
Mihai Cheibaș was born on November 17, 1958 in Satul Nou, Reni, Odessa Oblast, to Parascovia and Simion Cheibaș. As a child, he enjoyed making various figurines, especially out of wood. After high school, he attended the Polytechnic Institute, where he met his wife, Ludmila Cheibaș, and married her in his third year. He graduated from the institute in 1976. After graduation, Mihai and Ludmila Cheibaș were assigned to Soroca, where Mihai worked as an architect. They later moved to Rîbnița, where he continued to work as an architect. From Rîbnița, he was offered a transfer to the city of Cotovsc (now Hîncești) or Anenii Noi. After a brief analysis of the cities, he chose Anenii Noi, where he and his wife were offered an apartment. On December 30, 1985, they moved into the apartment, bringing with them only a gas stove. They spent New Year's Eve there. After New Year's, Mihai Cheibaș worked as chief architect until the 1990s, and then as vice mayor of the city. After his term as vice mayor, he worked at Ambalaj-Bulboaca from 1993 to 2003, when he ran for mayor as an independent candidate. In 2006, he graduated from the Academy of Public Administration. After winning his first term as an independent mayor, he won two more terms, this time as a mayor supported by the Communist party, until 2015.After being elected mayor, he found it much easier to work as an architect. By communicating and interacting with more people, Mihai could see the needs of the people, and he was inspired to create new monuments. One of his dreams was to become a soldier, as he was a great enthusiast, but it was not to be. When he was elected mayor, he supported those who fought in Afghanistan with all his might. He organized memorial meals for the fallen soldiers, and he was always a kind and compassionate man who gathered those who fought to commemorate their brothers from another mother in an atmosphere of friendship and peace. Mihai was a man who loved to travel. He visited England, the United States, France, and other countries. He always brought a souvenir for his family when he returned from any country.
Constructions[edit]
Monumentil Maicii Îndurerate[edit]
Throughout his life, Cheibaș contributed to the development of the town of Anenii Noi through various constructions, being a co-author. His first piece of work was the "Maica Îndurerată" which was inaugurated on May 9, 1987, with his wife, Ludmila Cheibaș, serving as the inspiration. Before creating the work, a clay model was made right behind the current monument. The purpose of the monument is to enhance cultural heritage in the formation of skills for a democratic culture.
Aleea Memoriei[edit]
The second work in which Mihail Cheibaș was a co-author is the "Aleea Memoriei" in the town of Anenii Noi, which was inaugurated in August 2009, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Moldova's liberation from fascist rule. Here, in granite, the names of local heroes are illustrated, those who remained on the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
