Alison Cornyn is an artist and founder of the Picture Projects, a multidisciplinary art and design studio based in Brooklyn. Cornyn 's practice revolves around utilizing art strategies to investigate complex social issues and "to inspire dialogue—and instigate change."[1] Online projects include the Guantanamo Public Memory Project, 360degrees - Perspectives on the US Criminal Justice System, Sonic Memorial and the Prison Public Memory Project, an organization that she founded in 2011. Cornyn's work is supported by grants and fellowships including Creative Capital [2], The New York Foundation of the Arts [3], the New York State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts among others. Her projects have received awards including the Peabody Award, Gracie Allen award for women in media, the Webby for net.art and Ars Electronica's honorable mention.

Education

Cornyn received her bachelor's degree in art history and art from Connecticut College. She received an MFA from Hunter College and a master's at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Interactive Telecommunications Program.
