Plasma Heroes is the official name of the American comic-book publisher alternatively known as "Plasma" or "Plasma Comics".[1]

Plasma Heroes is notable for it's inclusion of all its characters into one story, with most of the main characters recurring and aging.

History

[edit]

Although Plasma Heroes has always been named "Plasma Heroes", common nicknames(such as "Plasma", "Plasma Comics", and "Star Comics") it has picked up along the way have been easily mistaken as the original name.

Throughout it's active run in making comics, Plasma has brought over 300 characters together into a single comic which builds up over many comic lines to come to an ultimatum over 7 years.

Most of the Plasma Heroes comics have been made and published by the founder, with only a handful of comics with outside influence and work.[2]

2007-2014: The 7-Year Arc

[edit]

The 7-Year Arc refers to the culmination of the entire Plasma Heroes comic universe from beginning(July 11th, 2007) to 2014 with release of the final installment of the Plasma Heroes, "Rise Of Bethron" story arc. On July 11th, 2007, Green Robot was created as the first Plasma Hero, soon followed by Captain Red, Atom Girl, Drew Shay, and multiple agents from an agency known as S.O.H.A. within the same week. The 7-Year arc starts with "Green Robot Vol. 1 #1" as Jeff Cores becomes Green Robot after finding a hidden laboratory under a house he was in the middle of selling. Jeff is met by a mysterious old man who prompts him to take the Green suit at the end of the hall; and to everyone's benefit, Jeff did exactly that. Jeff becomes a hero soon after and eventually he is hired alongside Captain Red and Atom Girl to be a super team known as the Unstoppable Three who first appear in "Unstoppable Trio #1" as part of a 3-part mini-series. Over time, the heroes gain many allies and a recurring villain known as Mystery who later goes on to ring in the apocalypse. With the end of the world at stake, Drew Shay, Buttercup Waves, and John Ghee call in every superhero and S.O.H.A. agent part of the Plasma Heroes universe to take on Mystery. Soon after the gigantic upgrade to the super team "Plasma Heroes", Mystery reforms into an entity known as Bethron. Led by Plasma Girl, the Plasma Heroes go head on against Bethron, but his universal reach is too much for the heroes as all but Green Robot(Jeff Cores), Captain Red(Eli Bass), Mike Roboto, Plasma Girl, and Time Keeper are left alive. In the end, Time Keeper is tasked with going back-in-time to stop this reality from ever happening and it is revealed that Time Keeper himself was the old man talking to Jeff Cores in the underground laboratory in the first comic.

2015-2018: Stasis

[edit]

After the Bethron escapade and Time Keeper heads backwards in time, Plasma Heroes slowed down production, publishing comics on a normal monthly basis rather than their original weekly comic publishing schedule. Since the final issue of "Plasma Heroes: Rise Of Bethron" the comics of Plasma Heroes have been alternate versions, special editions, and comics with light crossovers with GC containing some continuity, however it's mostly unspoken.

Future

[edit]

Although Plasma isn't planning to go back to their weekly comic releases, the types of comics they are planning to release have been announced to contain more continuity. "The plan is to release another strong continuity based arc in the near future, something like the 7-Year arc. We've currently been publishing light rebooted origins and wild alternative versions; I think it would be great to take those new origins and alternate versions and finish telling the story we didn't." said CEO & Founder, Michael Flowers[3]. Flowers has openly stated that he plans to bring in a "team of comic book creators to take up the mantle and bring the stories I have to life in their own way, because I really think it's time I take a break from being as hands on with it, I am planning to move forward with many other things, and I'd like to see how others create their own characters and stories, as well as execute the continuity I set for them."[4].

Media

[edit]

Founder, Michael Flowers has spoken of plans to make a cinematic universe from the comics "in the future, although not any time soon. Not because of companies like Marvel and DC, but because for Plasma specifically, I don't want to release a film and no one know about the comics, and right now, that's where we are.". The rights to Plasma Heroes films, television, games, and comics are still with their respective owner, however Flowers has mentioned he is looking into "shared usage partnerships.".[7].
