ÖzgürKon is an international online free software event, organized by Özgür Yazılım Derneği, an association located in Turkey.^[2]^[3]^[4]^[5] Main topics of the event are free software, Internet freedom, hardware freedom, diversity in digital cultures, privacy, and related topics.^[6] The name of the event is a compound of two Turkish words; "özgür" (English: free) and "konferans" (English: conference).^[7]

ÖzgürKon was initially organized to fill the physical event absence due to COVID-19 pandemic^[1], nevertheless the organizers announced the event is planned to be held in person on following years.^[8]^[6]

2020[edit]

ÖzgürKon 2020 was held on May 16-17, 2020 online, and the keynote speakers was Aral Balkan^[9], Karen Sandler^[10], Rosie Stephenson-Goodknight^[11], Gregory Engels, Alexander Sander, John Lubbock. It had more than 2000 attendees worldwide.

2021[edit]

ÖzgürKon 2021 will be held on May 15-16, 2021; online.^{[citation needed]}
