First Round

16/09/2012 - 12/01/2013

It all began on 16th September 2012 with a 2-0 victory over Sirens following a 5-0 win over Santa Lucia, Marsa Fc began on a great note only to get denied the third match as Swieqi Utd scored a late winner to set the score 1-0 after that match they faced Senglea Athletic as they conceded another narrow defeat of 1-0.

After two defeats in a row Marsa won four games in a row beating Ta’ Xbiex 5-1, Qrendi 6-1, Luqa St Andrews 3-2 and Kalkara 1-0. Marsa were in great form after which they got the heaviest defeat of the season when they lost 3-0 against Mdina Knights but Marsa never gave up hope as they went on 5 games unbeaten winning four games and one draw winning against Mtarfa 3-0, Attard 4-1, Xghajra Tornados 1-0, Ghaxaq 6-1 and a goalless draw against Marsaskala.

After the first round Marsa Fc were 2nd place with three other teams including Senglea Ath, Marsaskala and Sirens (31pts) they were only two points away from 1st place Mdina (33pts).


Second Round

Marsa began the second round on a bad note when they faced Sirens as they were 1-1 in the 37th minute the match got suspended as the referee said it to be suspended for ‘security reasons’ it was looked to be lost hope for promotion for the Marsa side as they came in a 2-2 draw against Santa Lucia after leading the way 2-0 after half time.

Marsa’s hope rose a little after beating Swieqi by a narrow victory of 1-0 after that match they faced Senglea only to lose the match 2-1 by a late penalty. Everything was going south for Marsa as they were downed to fifth place two points behind Sirens. After all that Marsa have been through they rose back up registering another four matches in a row beating Ta’ Xbiex 2-0, Qrendi 4-0, Kalkara 2-1 and Luqa by an incredible 7-0 victory.

Everything was looking good again for Marsa despite the 2-0 loss against Mdina, Marsa were back on track, they went on winning four out of five in the last five matches winning against Mtarfa 2-0, Attard 3-0 a decisive game against Xghajra which Marsa won 2-0, Marsa were just two points away from being promoted to second division as they won 3-0 against Ghaxaq, Marsa had finally done it in the last match they were only one point away from third place Marsaskala coming to another goalless draw against them but in the end it didn’t matter the most important thing was that Marsa had been promoted once again.

The four teams that got promoted to 2nd division were Senglea (1st), Mdina (2nd), Marsaskala (3rd) and Marsa (4th).
