Panchayat is an arts organisation and archive collection founded in 1988. Co-founded by Shaheen Merali and Allan deSouza the intial aim was to be an education and resource project documenting and advocating for South Asian artists in Britain through its archive, publications and educational resources. First based in Hoxton, in the East End, the collection was moved to the University of Westminster Library in 2002, in May 2015 it was transferred to the Tate Library at Tate Britain.
