Andy D Thomson[edit]

Andy D Thomson (born 17th February 1981) is a Scottish professional football coach, who is currently Director of Methodology for MLS Next club Miami Rush Kendall Soccer. [1]

Playing Career[edit]

Thomson played academy, high school and profession football until the age of 25 where he shifted his goals toward coaching and mentoring.

Coaching Career[edit]

  1. Mirren FC
    1. Thomson began his coaching career in 2005 at the Mirren FC acting as the Academy’s Head Coach.

  4. San Antonio FC
    1. On January, 7, 2016, San Antonio FC was awarded the thirty-first USL franchise. Thomson was named the team’s assistant coach and made the move to San Antonio, Texas (Hyperlink San Antonio) to restart his club coaching career with San Antonio FC. After missing the playoffs in its inaugural season, Thomson and San Antonio FC finished the 2017 USL regular season  (Hyperlink 2017 USL Regular season) with a 17–11–4 (W-D-L) record, finishing second in the USL Western Conference standings and earning their first playoff berth in club history. SAFC advanced to the Western Conference semifinals before being eliminated. San Antonio missed the playoffs in 2018 by 2 points in the conference table.

    1. Following his time with San Antonio FC, Thomson received an offer to continue coaching for the Central Coast Mariners FC in 2018.

Honors[edit]

Thomson earned Coach of the Week during the USL Championship Week 7 after defeating the top-ranked Tampa Bay Rowdies twice in 7 days.
