The devil chase is a percussion instrument originating in the Philippines. It is an idiophone; its sound is produced by the vibration of the entire instrument. Made from a bamboo stalk split for about half of its length, the resulting fork vibrates when struck against the hand. The sound ranges from a hum to a roar, depending on size and playing technique. Due to the natural variables in material and construction, each instrument sounds unique.
