Frank Nitsche

Frank Nitsche porträtiert von Oliver Mark, Berlin 2012.

Frank Nitsche (* 1964 in Görlitz) is a contemporary German painter. From 1988 to 1995 Nitsche studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts.

Works

[edit]

His works are exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the mudam - Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean in Luxembourg and the Tate Britain in London. Other works can be found in collections such as the Rubell Family Collection, the Marx Collection, the Goetz Collection, the Lipschutz Collection, the Arad Collection and the New Masters Gallery in Dresden.

Nitsches abstract paintings are constructions of symbolically arranged surfaces, forms and lines. Meticulously curved arches, overpaintings and colour transitions, whose formal language is reminiscent of the graphic art of the 1950s, lend his painting a rather cool character, which is also supported by the numerically abbreviated titles.

Frank Nitsche is represented by the galleries Gebr. Lehmann (Dresden), Max Hetzler (Berlin), Leo Koenig (New York City) and others. He lives and works in Berlin.
