Overview
IMS Learning Resources Pvt Ltd is an educational organization that provides training for various competitive exams, and also offers higher education programs. It was founded in 1977 by Dr Nagesh Raghunath Rane, and is currently headquartered in Mumbai, India. At present, it has a national presence, with more than 75 centers across India. The company is currently managed by Managing Director Kamlesh Sajnani and Group CFO is Anand Sutaria; the company’s chairperson is Mrs Leela N. Rane. IMS provides training for various entrance exams to professional courses, specializing in the stream of management. The exams include the Common Admission Test (CAT), Common Management Admission Test (CMAT), Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), among others, as well as tests conducted by individual business schools or groups of business schools. IMS also provides training materials and counseling for various stages of education in India and abroad.
Company history
[edit]IMS was founded in 1977 by Professor N.R. Rane, during his stint as Lecturer of English in HR College of Commerce & Economics and as part-time lecturer at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. At the time, the resources for internationally relevant education in the form of courses were available, but aspirants were unaware of the same, as knowledge about the higher education system in India was quite complex. Dr Rane viewed this as a waste of talent, and realized that this was a social requirement. Therefore, he released the first set of study material of its kind to enable attempting the CAT, and later went on to add GRE, GMAT and TOEFL, all prepared by himself. Dr Rane realized the importance of MBA as an educational opportunity, and accordingly, IMS started growing from the first batch of 7 students. According to MD Kamlesh Sajnani, “IMS has continued Dr Rane’s philosophy and social responsibility in the same vein over the years.” The institute was ranked 4th in the education sector and 44th amongst the Top 50 Most Trusted Service Brands across India by AC-Nielsen & Brand Equity, in December 2003. IMS also attracted institutional funding in 2009 from India Build-Out Fund – 1, Milestone PE Fund.
Subdivisions
[edit]IMS Test-Prep
[edit]Through Test-Prep, IMS coaches and trains its enrolled students for competitive entrance exams using traditional classroom coaching methods. IMS also provides test preparation materials, counseling for students, as well as training for post-exam group discussion and personal interview rounds for students cracking the tests. Students enroll for training to get into courses either in India or abroad.

Undergraduate
[edit]In India, the entrance exams (undergraduate) for which IMS provides training and preparation materials include: • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), • Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS), • Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), • Common Proficiency Test (CPT).

Proschool
[edit]Proschool is an initiative by IMS that focuses on the employability of an individual. IMS provides various certification courses, such as Financial Modeling (in association with the NSE), CFP (in association with Tata McGraw-Hill), etc. Proschool also plans to provide training and skill development programs in blue collar jobs in the future.
Praxis Business School
[edit]Praxis Business School was established by IMS in 2007 in the heart of Kolkata. In the initial years, it was supported by faculty from XLRI, Jamshedpur, a premier business school in India. Praxis currently offers a 2-year full time residential postgraduate program in Business Management, a 1-year full time postgraduate program in Business Analytics, and a 1-year program in Sport and Entertainment Management.

[edit]IMS designs training material for competitive exams like the CAT, CMAT, XAT, SNAP, NMAT, TANCET, MAT, ATMA, IIFT, etc. Apart from providing training material for competitive entrance exams, IMS also publishes books for all management aspirants. These include Communication Skills Builder, Quantitative Skills Builder, guide books for group discussion and personal interview, instructional books on improving English language proficiency, among others. Advanc’edge MBA
[edit]Advanc’edge MBA is a monthly magazine of IMS that caters to all aspirants of management education. It publishes articles and interviews with professionals in the industry and academicians.
