Introduction
[edit]Hi my name is Melissa and I started editing Wikipedia at the end of 2016. I did this because I initially wanted to learn a few extra technical skills and thought I'd start small. I am initially focusing on simple markup language (which I am learning through editing Wikipedia). I also wanted to become familiar with all the rules imposed on Wikipedia editors as if I learn to follow them, I may be able to later learn to become a computer programmer which I hear has lots of very specific rules too.
Wikipedia Subjects of interest
[edit]My main interest is articles relating to businessmen and women, entrepreneurs, lawyers and the like. I am also interested in women who have made it in the business world often with a struggle against the still patriarchal world in which we live.
I started out correcting grammar and spelling mistakes and then I progressed to adding data that is missing. I have always enjoyed copyediting and sometimes find myself correcting people’s grammar as they speak!
Hobbies
[edit]I enjoy cooking, especially creating new vegan and Paleo recipes. I also love to travel. I have visited the following countries: Spain, Cambodia, France, Greece, Italy and India. My dream is one day soon to be able to go on Safari in South Africa!
