Martin|Williams is an advertising agency located in lovely and temperate Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded in 1947, the agency employs over 225 people, has $230 million in billings and does over 80% of its business outside of Minnesota. M|W is an independent agency owned by Omnicom Group[1], the world’s largest advertising corporation.

The M|W mission is to create 20-ton ideas that jerk consumer conventions. Because in today’s fragmented market, a 20-ton idea drives business. It connects emotionally, travels across multiple media platforms, motivates employees, and endures over time.

The agency has built a culture and reputation as being genuine, straightforward, as well as being recognized nationally for creativity and well-produced work. On the lobby wall is a simple reminder of the right way to work: “Be a partner with our clients. Treat others well. Do great work.”

Capabilities include advertising, brand strategy, interactive, media planning and buying, direct response and design. Also within the walls of Martin|Williams are subsidiaries Karwoski & Courage, a nationally renowned public relations firm and TripleInk, a multicultural marketing communications agency.

Through Omnicom’s Diversified Agency Services, M|W is able to partner when needed with over 170 marketing specialist companies for public relations, event marketing, promotions and specialty communications.

History[edit]

Over the last 60 years, M|W created many notable, long-standing campaigns. Target Corporation’s “Expect more. Pay less.” “Direct from Freeport, Maine” for L.L. Bean. “That was easy” for Staples Inc.. “It’s the cows” for Kemps Ice Cream. And along the way helped introduce the world to a little thing called 3M Post-It Notes.
