Marc Kahlberg - BIO...

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa in late 1963, Marc Kahlberg spent most of his childhood playing sports and as the principal of the Jewish day school Marc attended once commented, “Marc’s spiritual presence in the classroom in made up for by his physical presence on the sports fields”. It was on these sports field’s that Marc was to bear witness to several beatings by the South African Police in an Apartheid country; His crime was simply playing soccer with black kids!

After an active childhood on the sports fields, Marc was conscripted into a compulsory South African Army for two years. Most of this duty was done in a fighting unit called 3 South African Infantry Brigade. High standards of discipline and extreme mental toughness were the order of the day and after an early honorable discharge due to an injury, Marc’s dream of immigrating to Israel became a reality.

Marc’s transition from the South African Army into the Israel Defense Force was almost immediate.
