The Conquest of Jacatra (Indonesian: Penaklukan Jayakarta) was a military conquest launched by the Dutch East India Company to take over the port city of Jayakarta, it was an important event in the Dutch colonial history, the event laid the groundwork for the establishment of Batavia, a pivotal colonial settlement that would serve as the capital of the Dutch East Indies and play a crucial role in the expansion of Dutch influence in Southeast Asia.

A fierce competition in trade and monopoly in Southeast Asia, the Dutch East India Company had to compete with their main competitor, the East India Company, who also seek to monopolize the trade in Bantam, an important trading city in Southeast Asia, in 1618, a Dutch company official, Laurens Reael, resigned from his position as the governor-general, due to conflicts with the company board directors and the Heeren XVII, the resignation of Reael paved a way for the young Jan Pieterszoon Coen, who would later replaced Reael as a governor-general. Coen's new policy started a new chapter in Dutch colonial history, previously he launched an aggressive invasion against the Bandanese to conquer the lucrative spice island of Banda, and in 1619, Coen took the decision to attack the city of Jacatra. On 27 May 1619, Coen launched a full-scale invasion against the English and Jakartans in Jayakarta, and by 28 May, Coen's armada already entered VOC fort in Jayakarta, Coen razed the city on 30th May, and the city fell completely to the Dutch.

The city of Jayakarta was occupied by the Dutch and was renamed to Batavia, referring to the Batavi tribe, the ancestors of the Dutch people who settled the low countries since the Roman era. By the 4th of March 1621, Batavia became the official headquarters of the Dutch East India Company.
