The history of Jakarta from 1946 to 1950 refers to the period of transition of Jakarta from the Dutch occupation to the republican rule. The Dutch re-occupied Jakarta in 1946 after retaking it from the republican government under Suwiryo, then ruled it until the establishment of the Federal Region of Batavia (known as Jakarta to republican government) when Jakarta was governed under the rule of the State of Pasundan, a state within the United States of Indonesia. The Fedral Territory of Jakarta also served as the seat of the United States of Indonesia until its dissolution in 1950.
