Spoons (Card Game)

[edit]

Description

[edit]

A card game played by groups ranging from 2 and upward. Though having more players does make the game more interesting it should be kept in mind that it will require more spoons and having a group of more than 13 will require a second or third deck.

  1. Must have one standard playing card deck for every 13 players.
  2. Must also have one spoon for every player except one. The spoons are to be in the middle of the table either spread out evenly (but still in the reach of all players) or in one pile (this option is considerably more dangerous if the game is to be played with a competitive group).
  3. The cards must be thoroughly shuffled and 4 cards are to be dealt to each player, the cards must remain face down until every card has been dealt.
  4. The players are then to pick up their cards (if one or more of the players has four cards of the same type I.E. four 2s or four queens etc. you may skip to step #7)
  5. Each play must then (based on the cards in hand) one card to discard. A card is discarded by placing it face down on the table and slid to the player on the left (clockwise). The dealer should pick their card from the pile of left over cards (if there are any) and the last player should their discarded card in a pile.
  6. The goal of the game is to have all four cards in hand be the same number (four 2s or four queens etc.) so step 5 should be repeated until this is achieved. If the first player runs out of cards to pick from then they should take the discard pile of the last player and use that and the last player should begin making a new pile.
  7. When one or more player simultaneously gets the cards then need they may reach for a spoon, upon seeing this all other players must also reach for a grab a spoon.
  8. No player is guarantied a spoon.
  9. The one player who fails to get a spoon is from then on out and one spoon should be removed from the pool.
  10. (Optional rule) Players may steal spoons from other players or hide spoons from other players (players caught hiding spoons are out and the person who would have been out that round is safe)([Optional Rule] of more than one players is caught in one round they are to dual for the spoon).
  11. These steps are to be completed in order until there is one player remaining. This player is the winner.
