The "SBP" Project Duration Factor
The SBP project duration factor = 2.30.
"Projects take about 2.3 times longer than originally estimated."
The SBP project duration factor was derived in the 1980's by the two directors of Simpson Bell Partnership Ltd, a Hong Kong Company which specialised in the supply of materials and furniture for architectural projects in the region.
After undertaking many assignments it was noticed with considerable frustration that projects always seemed to take about 2.3 times longer than the first estimate (before detailed planning).
Le Queux's corollary:
Unless the it's a software project, in which case the "SBP" project duration factor should be doubled.
